Beautifully packed and genuinely premium. The walnuts were fresh, flavorful, and clearly selected with care. I really liked how Qashvor combines the authenticity of Kashmir with a modern brand experience.

Is it real saffron? Here's how to tell

Saffron is one of the most copied spices in the world. These are simple checks you can do at home with any saffron, including ours.

  1. The warm-water test

Drop a few threads into warm water or milk. Real saffron slowly releases a golden colour over 10–15 minutes while the threads stay red. Dyed fakes turn the water red at once and fade.

  2. Look at the threads

Mongra threads are deep red from end to end, with a slightly flared, trumpet-shaped tip. Yellow or white ends mean the paler part of the flower is included — a lower grade.

  3. Smell and taste

Real saffron smells sweet and hay-like, but tastes slightly bitter. If it tastes sweet, it isn't saffron.

  4. Why Mongra

Mongra is the top Kashmiri grade: only the deep-red upper part of each stigma, separated by hand after the Pampore harvest.
